The next-generation SDXC (eXtended Capacity) memory card specification, announced today at the 2009 International CES, dramatically improves consumers' digital lifestyles by providing the portable storage and speed needed to store weeks of high-definition video, years of photo collections and months of music to mobile phones, cameras and camcorders, and other consumer electronic devices. The new SDXC specification provides up to 2 terabytes storage capacity and accelerates SD interface read/write speeds to 104 megabytes per second this year, with a road map to 300 megabytes per second. The new SDXC memory cards will enable camcorders to provide longer, professional level HD video recording with a small form factor.

The Garmin Nuvi 885T was announced in conjunction with the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, and will be on display at the Garmin navigation booth. This powerful new navigator gives clear guidance on a 4.3” color touchscreen display (480x272 pixels), and is preloaded with maps of the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. For faster satellite prediction, the Nuvi 885T has Garmin’s HotFix feature which automatically calculates and stores critical satellite information.

Garmin Approach G5

Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation, announced its first touchscreen handheld designed exclusively for the golf course, the Garmin Approach G5. The latest breakthrough in Garmin’s expansive outdoor recreation and fitness line, the Garmin Approach G5 GPS was announced in conjunction with the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. “The Garmin Approach G5 handheld navigation device shows golfers the precise distance to the center of green or other key course features, which can eliminate the guesswork and make club selection easier - key factors in improving any golfer’s score,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales.

The annual CES show in Las Vegas (United States) opens its doors again from the 8th of January until the 11th of January 2009. The International CES is produced by CEA, the Consumer Electronics Association, the preeminent trade association promoting growth in the consumer technology industry. CEA represents more than 2,200 corporate members involved in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and integration of consumer electronics products such as audio, photo, video and mobile electronics as well as communication, information technology, networks, multimedia and accessories. The CES 2009 exhibition will show the consumer what to expect in the field of new digital electronics in the next season.
