ATP GPS receiver test
The ATP GPS Photo Finder Mini has a compact size, as the name already reveals. The rectangular black lack design of the body feels like plastic and is extremely light when it comes to weight. The carbine clip makes it ever so easy to attach this GPS device to your trousers. And thanks to its light weight, 40 grams, you don't notice the GPS device dangling down there. Besides the GPS device itself, a multi-functional docking station is included in the package. And that is not all, also a battery charger with USB connection and users guides in both paper version and CD format are included.

Nowadays, geotagging is general knowledge. With the use of geotagging, GPS information of your pictures can be gathered and stored. In other words: where and when did you take a picture? Afterwards, the geographic locations of where exactly the pictures were captured can be viewed online. No need for software, since online applications such as Picasa, Flickr, Panoramio, Locr and Google Maps offer the solution. And the ATP GPS Photo Finder Mini takes things one step further: also the route you took can be stored, and viewed through Google Earth afterwards.

After I had put the pictures on Google Earth, I saw to my astonishment that the location of the pictures I captured deviated tremendously from the actual location. The GPS signal was not the cause, since the matching route was almost precisely how I walked. A technical software problem perhaps, that will probably be solved with a firmware update. It is nice though to find that the newly built-in function, to also store the route, is already thought-out this well.
