Somewhere in one of the gigantic halls of the Consumer Electronics Show, we met the representatives of Gelaskins. This company, based in North America, supplies so-called unique skins to personalize your mobile phone, notebook or even your guitar. Gelaskins collaborates with several artists whose artwork gets transferred onto a kind of vinyl skin. This way, electronic equipment receives a second skin as it were, with really beautiful artwork. A number of BlackBerry phones and iPhones were displayed on a table, looking simply smashing! Gelaskins are globally delivered and can be ordered online via GelaSkins.

OmniVision adds the new, feature-rich VGA OVM7692 Camera-Cube solution to its portfolio of ultra-compact reflowable camera modules. The OmniVision OVM7692 is a complete VGA camera solution including DVP parallel and MIPI serial output interface support, automatic luminance detection and an integrated EMI solution. The OmniVision CameraCube is designed to meet the performance and manufacturing requirements of tier-one handset manufacturers. OmniVision has already secured design wins for the OVM7692.

Lenovo ThinkPad laptops

Smartphone touchscreen test

MOTO Development Group unveils a video and photos of a smartphone touchscreen performance test between the Google Nexus One, the Apple iPhone, the Motorola Droid, and the HTC Verizon Droid Eris. MOTO Development Group created the simple technique so that anyone can evaluate the resolution and accuracy of touchscreen devices before they buy. To conduct the smartphone touchscreen test, consumers open a basic drawing program and draw a few diagonal lines drawn across the screen.

Dual screen eReader

Spring Design will take the wraps off the Alex, the only dual-screen Google Android-based eReader to fully integrate web browsing and reading, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas January 7-10, 2010. The debut of the Alex dual screen Reader took place at the press-only Lunch at Piero’s media and innovator event January 8 where the company has demonstrate Alex’s full browser capabilities and patented dual screen interaction technology, the Duet Navigator that enables Alex users to search the Internet on the 3.5” color browser LCD screen while displaying books, periodicals and even personal, educational and corporate documents on the Alex’s paper-like 6” EPD screen.
