Casio introduces the new Exilim EX-Z3
There is new small digital camera out there and it is called EX-Z3. The EX-Z3 is equipped with a 3 Megapixel CCD (1/2.5") and a new developed slim zoom lens with a 3x optical range. The back of this new model has a full 2” TFT display which is a lot larger than the display on the generation Exilim models we know today (1.6").
The new developed zoom lens has a 3 step sinking mechanism and therefore it is possible to create such a small camera with a 3x optical zoom lens. The new LSI chip results in only a 0,01 seconds time lag after pushing the release button (and after focussing). The new Casio camera has an optical viewfinder, but the new 2" TFT display is excellent to use as a viewfinder as well. Of course we also see the Best Shot function, a typical Casio function, in this model. 21 scenes are built in, so for almost every situation there is a read-to-go program to shoot the moment. The images are stored in JPEG format and will be transported to the computer via USB. Secure Digital will be used for storage, but there is also a 10MB internal memory.
The 3x optical zoom lens is equivalent to a 35-105mm with a 35mm camera and has a bright f2.6 aperture in wide (f4.3 in tele). The maximum resolution is 2048x1536 pixels and the minimal is 640x480 pixels. The movie mode records in a resolution of 320x240 with a maximum recording time of 30 seconds. The 2” TFT display has a resolution of 354x240 pixels (84,960). The EX-Z3 has an ISO range of ISO 50, 100 and 200. The white balance is automatic or can be set in 4 fixed modes or one manual. The normal focus distance is 40cm to infinity, but in macro mode the distance lies between 6 and 50cm. The range of the exposure control is -/2 EV with steps of 1/3 EV. To connect the new EX-Z3 camera to a computer a USB cradle will be used. This is a very user-friendly solution. The dimensions of this new Casio camera are 87x57x22.9mm with a weight of only 126g.
We should be able to get the official press release later this day, when there is some more news we will update this article.
