Canon expands its award-winning High Definition (HD) camcorder range with the announcement of a groundbreaking flash memory-based model. The compact Canon HD Camcorder HF100 will thrill creative moviemakers who want maximum mobility and the chance to shoot High Definition footage in challenging new environments. The Canon HF100 offers the convenience of shooting straight to memory card. Flash Memory allows the Canon HF100 to offer a range of benefits compared to camcorders based on other media: like Hard Disk Drives (HDD), the camcorder provides extended recording times; but it is more compact than DVD camcorders; and it provides superb image quality, comparable with the standard set by High Definition Video (HDV).

Canon HV30 camcorder

Canon adds a new star to its HD camcorder range with the launch of the Canon HD Camcorder HV30. Building on the success of the HV20 - named Camcorder of the Year for 2007 - the Canon HV30 improves on its predecessor with a host of refinements that make it easier to use. Recording HDV1080i images directly to MiniDV tape, the Canon HV30 introduces a Multi-angle Vivid LCD screen with a 135-degree angle of view - keeping the image clearly visible when shooting above or below eye level. Housed in a sleek black chassis, the HV30 is compatible with Canon’s high capacity BP-2L24H battery pack, which offers up to four hours of continuous shooting on a single charge. The camcorder retains the acclaimed Canon HD Camera System.

The Consumer Electronics Show, better known as CES, has been held annually for over 40 years now. The first CES took place in New York City in 1967 featuring 200 exhibitors and 17,500 visitors. Since that time, the total show has increased by a factor 10. This year's CES show will again take place in Las Vegas, as usual, where visitors are welcomed from January 7 to January 10. The CES event appears to become more important every year. It is the first major world event where more than 2,200 CEA (Consumer Electronics Association) members are able to display their involvement in relation to development, manufacturing, distribution and integration of consumer electronic products such as audio, photo, video, mobile communication, and accessories. The CES 2010 starts off a brand-new year, offering a peek of what we can expect in the upcoming season regarding new products and services.
