Polaroid announces the launch of the Polaroid PoGo Instant Digital Camera, the first digital camera and instant printer combination available in the U.S. and Europe that is portable enough to take anywhere. With the push of a button, consumers can select from among the digital photos on the camera, crop or edit them and in less than 60 seconds, print full-color, 2x3-inch prints - all with a single device. “Unlike traditional instant film, photos from the Polaroid PoGo Instant Digital Camera emerge fully developed,” Pollock says. “While many of our most passionate customers tell us “shaking” a Polaroid photo is part of the fun, with any Polaroid photo, the “shake” is totally optional.”

The digital camera has become common property for the consumer. People are no longer surprised by the phenomenon of a digital camera, which brings us to the conclusion that the hype is over. Still there’s a lot going on in the current digital camera market, as there will be at CES 2009, if only at micro level at times. In particular the digital SLR camera segment and shortly, the promising Micro FourThirds system cameras prove to be a strongly growing market. Amateurs are keen to switch to an affordable DSLR camera, and hobby photographers grow to the level of a semipro digital SLR. The professional DSLR is undergoing a huge development if we look at the image quality. Innovative sensor solutions enable high resolutions without noteworthy loss of quality, on the other hand, prices of the full frame DSLR cameras are dropping considerably. In fact, they have dropped so much that Pro equipment no longer differs from that of the semipro photographer. It seems to open doors for a new professional segment, which we await in suspense… Stay tuned and keep an eye on our CES 2009 report!
