The CEA announced that top executives from Microsoft, Panasonic and Intel will deliver keynote addresses at the 2008 International CES. The 2008 International CES is the world’s largest tradeshow for consumer. Bill Gates, Chairman, Microsoft Corp., will deliver a pre-show keynote address on Sunday, January 6, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. Toshihiro Sakamoto, president, Panasonic AVC Networks Company, will kick off the 2008 International CES at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 7 with an opening keynote, immediately following a State of the Industry Address by Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA. Paul Otellini, CEO, Intel Corp. will round out day one with a keynote address at 4:30 p.m., Monday afternoon.

Mobile phone recycling

The Wireless Source, through its Charitable Recycling arm, introduced a cost-free mobile phone recycling service and data removal tool for consumers. "Privacy and identity theft are relevant security concerns for mobile phone users looking to retire their mobile handsets" said Bob Sullivan, CEO of the Wireless Source. "Many consumers want to recycle or donate their retired handsets, but want the peace of mind knowing their personal data will be safely removed before it is recycled."

Noritsu D701 inkjet printer

Noritsu announced a collaboration with Lucidiom to provide an innovative retail photo printing solution focused on the new Noritsu D701 compact retail inkjet printer. The Noritsu D701 printer is a high quality inkjet printer capable of producing a wide variety of print sizes to maximize revenue potential for the retailer. Retailers can now provide their customers with a full assortment of photo and photo-related products in stores. In addition to standard 4"x6" prints, the D701 can produce new photo revenue opportunities through items such as calendars, photo cards, locker prints and posters up to 10"x36".

LG Philips high resolution paper display

LG Philips LCD, a leading innovator of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, announced that it will debut the world's highest resolution 14.3-inch flexible color E-paper display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008. The 14.3-inch E-paper display, which is equivalent in size to an A4 sheet of paper, represents a significant improvement over its predecessors with a never before seen resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, and the ability to display 16.7 million colors, making it perfect for use in high end multimedia applications. These displays are extremely energy efficient, only using power when the image changes. Additionally, the displays are extremely thin, at less than 300 micrometers.
