Sony Camcorders with GPS

As a leader in the high-definition camcorder category, Sony is introducing four hard disk drive Handycam camcorders with high-performance optics, large storage capacity and advanced technologies. The Sony HDR-XR520V, HDR-XR500V, HDR-XR200V and HDR-XR100 camcorder models preserve content in high resolution with 1920x1080 high-definition video recording and up to 12-megapixel still image capture. The flagship model includes a 240GB hard drive that holds up to 101 hours of HD video (LP mode), embedded GPS, a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, and improved optical image stabilization.

The new HDR-HC9 camcorder is based on the HDV format for recording 1440 x 1080 HD video to standard mini DV tape and offers compatibility with a wide range of video editing suites. It features Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* optics, a 3.2-megapixel ClearVid CMOS sensor, and 6.1-megapixel photo capture. The Sony HC9 model offers extensive manual controls to meet the demands of advanced videographers, including “focus to infinity;” spot meter and focus to change exposure and focus at the same point at the same time; center mark to use as a guide frame in the LCD screen or viewfinder.

Sony SR220

Sony is debuting a new hard drive Handycam camcorder with a sleek body and robust capacity to capture life’s longer moments. The 60GB Sony SR220 camcorder delivers continuous recording times (LP mode) of up to 41 hours. “Our new hard drive models incorporate intelligent and fun-to-use functions that will make people feel more confident in their moviemaking abilities” said Kelly Davis, director of camcorder marketing at Sony Electronics. The Sony DCR-SR220 model features 15x Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* optics, 4 Megapixel digital still capture, and a 2.3 Megapixel ClearVid CMOS sensor. This model includes imaging technologies shared with the company’s digital camera business to improve picture quality and performance.

The Consumer Electronics Show, better known as CES, has been held annually for over 40 years now. The first CES took place in New York City in 1967 featuring 200 exhibitors and 17,500 visitors. Since that time, the total show has increased by a factor 10. This year's CES show will again take place in Las Vegas, as usual, where visitors are welcomed from January 7 to January 10. The CES event appears to become more important every year. It is the first major world event where more than 2,200 CEA (Consumer Electronics Association) members are able to display their involvement in relation to development, manufacturing, distribution and integration of consumer electronic products such as audio, photo, video, mobile communication, and accessories. The CES 2010 starts off a brand-new year, offering a peek of what we can expect in the upcoming season regarding new products and services.
