The Sony HDR-SR11 hard drive camcorder is based on AVCHD technology and feature full 1920 x 1080 high-definition recording for outstanding clarity and detail. The Sony SR11 camcorder delivers the highest HD resolution available without sacrificing recording times. The Sony HDR-SR11 features a new high-profile encoding system to optimize encoding efficiency. The 60GB Sony SR85 camcorder delivers continuous recording times (LP mode) of up to 41 hours. “Our new hard drive models incorporate intelligent and fun-to-use functions that will make people feel more confident in their moviemaking abilities” said Kelly Davis, director of camcorder marketing at Sony Electronics. Hybrid movie recording on an optional Memory Stick PRO Duo media card as well as hard drive is available on the Sony DCR-SR85 to extend its recording options. Almost 11 hours of video (LP mode) can be stored on Sony’s new 16GB media card.

Sony introduces a mini DV Handycam with feature sets that provide great value for the investment. The new Sony HC62 camcorder integrates a 25x optical Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar zoom lens and a 1 Megapixel CCD imager provides excellent video, as well as 1 Megapixel digital still photos. For easy framing and viewing of footage, the Sony DCR-HC62 is equipped with a 2.7-inch wide (16:9) LCD touch panel screen. It has a Memory Stick PRO Duo media for easy management of photos, as well as a USB port for transferring video to a compatible PC and other devices. The Sony HC62 includes a helpful, on-screen usage guide that explains the menu functions, Super SteadyShot image stabilization for smoother video, and color viewfinders.

Sony expects to shake up the camcorder industry with the introduction of its 2008 line of DVD Handycam camcorders featuring hybrid and hybrid-plus movie recording. “People have been drawn to the DVD category because they are so easy to use,” said Kelly Davis, director of camcorder marketing at Sony Electronics. “Our 2008 line offers greater convenience through multiple recording options so you don’t have to worry about running out of media or missing a moment.” All 2008 DVD models include a new built-in zoom microphone. When you zoom in on a subject, the audio also zooms in for clearer sound recordings. The DCR-DVD710 model also delivers Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround that delivers a life-like audio experience.
