Worldwide sales of mobile phones surpassed one billion units for the first time last year. 295 million of those phones were sold in the fourth quarter alone, boosted by robust holiday purchases. With all these new phones, the question becomes, what is happening to all the phones that are no longer being used?

The International CES event in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, is the world's largest annual tradeshow for consumer technology and America's largest annual tradeshow of any kind. The first CES took place in New York City in June of 1967 with 200 exhibitors and 17,500 attendees. Since then, CES has grown more than eleven-fold. Last year 2,700 exhibitors, filled 1.8 million net square feet of exhibit space to showcase their latest products and services to more than 140,000 attendees.
